Slightly Pulp-ish.

At work I've been coverting the Glastonbury: The Movie DVDs they're giving away as prizes.

Not for the film because frankly, it's a bit poo, but because the commentary is by the director and Jarvis.

Yay.

Coo. Wonder if that's a one-off Christmas thing or if that means there's a wee tour?

When is 'Running the World' out as a single?

It's out now on iTunes and has been for a few weeks.

It's sort of an unofficial/official thing as obviously it can get absolutely zero radio play.

EDIT: I just clicked on that link. Jarvis is playing gigs? DAMN! That's going to sell out so fast. I can't possibly pay for anything else this month. Arses.

I thought I'd read somewhere that it was getting a physical release too, no? Although all I can find is an NME article giving a vague October date.

I think I read somewhere that they changed their mind about releasing the single in a physical format, and so just online only. Can't remember where I read that though.

I'm going to be a controversial here and say pre His n' Hers it's not actually that good.

There's some very good stand-out tracks in the three or so years leading up to it, but the albums as a whole aren't to great.

Freaks is frankly quite uncomfortable listening.

EDIT: Intro though is really worth buying because it's a collection of their best stuff while in the hinterland of record contract legal battles.

Separations is fab, though! It's decidedly mirror-ball tastic!!! Intro is indeed worth buying, but steer clear of the other compliation that was released around about the same time as His 'n' Hers, entitled 'Pulp on Fire'. Mind you, I have quite a soft spot for that particular album, due to it's inherent bizarre-ness.

Freaks is definitely uncomfortable listening, but it's got two of my fave Pulp tracks on there, namely 'Don't You Know' and 'They Suffocate at Night'.

In other news, I've recently re-discovered This Is Hardcore, and I actually had forgotten how good it was.

No, unfortunately, that's not one of mine. Pulp People was the official fanclub fanzine, and it was rather of the good. Mine was entitled 'Jammy Jezzabelle' (sic) and was rather rubbish in comparison!

Hey lucyamb!! I'm sooo chuffed to hear that you're gonna get the chance to see Jarvis live!!! I was only thinking the other day about how sad it is that we'll probably never get the chance to see Pulp live again. I remember back in the day the amount of stage-humping Jarvis used to do, during the 'hot' numbers like 'Acryllic Afternoons'. It was waaaay too much for a 16 year old girl to handle!!!

No it wasn't. I had every copy once upon a time. It was one of the
best fanzines I've come across.

It'd only be hardcore if I got a stiffy and spunked into the gaping axe-wound of some dirty ho. Just like happened in the final episode of Knightmare.

So that's what you got if you won. No wonder it was so hard to complete and
so few did.
I wonder if you still had to wear the horny helmet as you did it.
