Yep, I think the studio version is the definitive version of TDAV, and in second place must be the rousing live version they did when I saw them play live
But I do really like the stripped down versions too... And ALOACA was excellent! |

| Sorry, more excited about that than the dc live performance- but good versions they were. Sad to hear that they fell out with Setanta over somet anyhow. |

They play it everyday. I've heard it loads! |
Cool! I never listen to the radio, online or otherwise, so it was a pleasant surprise. |

| I turned it off during when Morissey started- my brief excitement and love of the radio put back to normal again. |

Hope that sounded good - Neil looked in good shape, if a little tired (but that's pretty much par for the course isn't it?).
The pause at the end of ALOACA was mainly because Neil stayed hunched over his guitar, as if he was going to start playing again - causing a collective fear of applauding prematurely in a radio studio....
I promise to post again within the next three years. |

BBC yes, but not 6 Music. We're allowed to go to the hub sessions (as long as we behave ourselves), so there were about 10 TDC fans sat and stood the other side of the webcam - one of them's the guy in the leather jacket shaking Neil's hand at the end.
Strong Irish contingent in that 10! |

they should sell tickets for hub casts! I'd pay the £30 train journey just for that. Bit upset none of my e-mails were read out though |

Bums, forgot about the webcam! TDAV was hilarious. Me and Bloo had a good old laugh at Neil's Les Dawson-esque piano playing. |

pip's bespoke upload will no doubt be a better bet, but if you just can't wait, it's available on Listen Again, at around the 1 hour 40 mins mark.

(panel on the right)
I suspect the BBC would get in trouble if it wanted/tried to sell tickets (licenses for public performance etc.). Also the 'hub' is really just a small lounge area where people normally just sit and drink coff, erm, I mean, hold small meetings and work very hard. The capacity (about 10) was pretty much standing room only, stretching back along the corridor. |

Best live version of TDAV I've heard yet (again, thank goodness! ) |

It's just some team mates having a laugh in a shower!
Reminds me... is there a full moon tonight or is it on the wane? |

I'm honoured that you've used my pic musiclikedirt! Thanks so much for the credit
Really loved reading your review of the 6music session- it's not often that we hear reports back from radio recordings!
Loved the "tingles down my spine" line... excellent stuff
If it's OK I'd really like to link to your piece from The Divine Camaraderie
Thanks again for posting up the review of the sesson, and for the link to the 6music photographs. I'm chuffed you used my pic too
PS- Are you croydon blue, who posted earlier in the thread? |
