A boring topic, I know, for my first post, but I thought of it last night when I was rating my DC playlists in Windows Media Player.

I was very discriminating, so had one 2-star song (Freedom Road, sorry), lots of 3 and 4-star ones, and 5 5-star choices. Hence my question.

Don't need to know the reasons why certain songs are there and others aren't, but would be curious to see some straight-off-the-top-of-your-head lists of your 5 fave DC tracks.

My five (they don't need to be in order, though mine are):

1. Our Mutual Friend
2. The Booklovers
3. Commuter Love
4. If
5. Geronimo

Cheers

1. Here Comes the Flood - ooh, it sends the shivers down my spine
2. Mastermind - just brilliant, no question
3. Tonight We Fly - so very uplifiting
4. The Happy Goth - what a catchy chorus
5. Don't Look Down - few others could juxtapose an argument with God with a fear of heights

But of course, they're all good really, aren't they?

OK, here's MY top 5 (couldn't be more subjective....)

I don't put a number, because i can't tell whixh is the best, so...

Tonight We Fly
Lucy
Don't Look Down
Eric The Gardener
Through a Long and Sleepless Night

But these are followed very shortly by Our Mutual Friend, My Charmed Life, The Beauty Regime, Mastermind, If I Were You....well, maybe 80% of the Divine Comedy songs....very difficult to choose, but the 5 are the good ones...For the rest it depends my mood...These days i REALLY like Europop and the cover of Life On Mars

Am I mad?

Is it controversial? I just think it's incredibly beautiful... first time I listened to that song was the moment I realised The Divine Comedy were something really special.

These past three days I've been listening to the CD's I got from a library (a secret history, absent friends, regeneration) and from them a few of my favs in no particular order are:

Tonight we fly
In pursuit of Happiness
The certainty of chance
Perfect lovesong
Our mutual friend

I adore pianos and strings and music that just washes over you like a giant wave...! Michael Nyman´s music for Prospero's Books and The Piano for example are wonderful.

I'm a fan of minimal/contemporary classical music and electronica (especially ambient), so perhaps I'm far more suited to the track than some. Wink

The five I most enjoy playing on my guitar would be.....

1 Commuter Love
2 Mastermind
3 Timestretched
4 Becoming more like Alfie
5 Pop singers Fear..(It's just refreshing to play on a summers day in the garden!)

I went to a number of DC gigs this year hoping I would hear Commuter Love. I hope I may be lucky in the future, as it gets quite a few votes here.

On another tack and I know really the start of another thread. My favourite song to play on my guitar altogether would have to be Hallelujah (Jeff Buckley version), followed very very closely by all the above!!!

OK sport. This is probably going to be completely different from the last list I made.

1. Our Mutual Friend - my god.
2. Tonight We Fly - my god.
3. Through a Long and Sleepless Night - my god.
4. Commuter Love - my god.
5. London Irish - why was it ever a b-side?

Special mention to No-One Knows, which I think beats the original hands down.
