Just bought it and listened to it for the first time. Forget all the blahblah, throw all cd's you bought in 2004 away and judge for yourself: this is on par with or maybe better than any earlier work!
Absent Friends, Sticks and Stones, CHBB, Our Mutual Friend, Neil has not lost any of his magic talents. I take off all the hats I have ever worn.

THANK YOU NEIL!!!!!

The lyrics are printed in whiteon black. The booklet has very very stylish pictures like the cover, and in the middle a double page picture of Neil standing on the beach, to be seen on the back. "For Willow" it's printed.
Sweet.

And oh yeah: the CD is copy controlled which is very ugly printed on the back of the CD and at the side. Also: no bonus tracks in The Netherlands. The guy who sold me the CD told me that a version with 4 extra tracks will appear in the UK. Don't know if he was telling the truth.

I'll be in France in 10 days so I'll take a look. Waste some money for 4 extra songs. The singles are nowhere to be found here in Holland.
It was funny to hear CHBB in full stereo ins stead of on a lousy computer. Like the angelish voice.

Just a quick question. Does anyone know where the artwork was photographed for this album?

Oui à l'aise! C'est toujours un Free Record Shop à Charleroi? Ca n'a pas changé de nom? En tout cas je suis preneur, fais le réserver Razz
C'est un concert assis?
At the Cirque Royal u have seats in the huge balcony and usually standing tickets downstairs in the main pit, which is more expensive. For Travis I took the less expensive tix and was upstairs and it's a pain in the ass cos u don't see the stage properly. I prefer to go in the standing pit, and be in front of the stage.
Hey I hope the walloon orchestra will kick ass! Neil could be happily surprised.
Also, it's in Belgium that Billy Bird will finally really make sense. Laughing

Hmm pay attention if u book online. I just phoned the guy at the Cirque Royal and the online tix are "1ère catégorie". It gives me seats in the balcony upstairs. Hmm I think I'll go the old way and book the things at a record shop here.

L:

While booking, i saw on another screen the plan of the venue & where my seats were. I'm definitiely well placed in the front area.

As for your cd, it'll leave by tuesday so don't go & ask for it (in the orders, ask at the counter) until at the very least Saturday or early the week after (we don't get any deliveries on mondays). I'll have written your name on a sticker on the cd to be sure, it's only 6.49€ i think).

Yea I have two seats in the D-block, so if you were going by yourself you can always join me, L.

Also: the guy at the Cirque Royal said the official sale doesn't start till monday...so that has to be some sort of presale, it was really odd, I was trying to get better seats and it was working when at one point it said I couldn't buy tickets online...weird site!

I saw the cd today. It cost 19.99 euro! I haven't bought it yet, as I have ordered the bonus thingy already, for the same money!

O, and I ordered tickets for the concert in Brussels as well. Also D block, which I think is not bad.

Yeah that's what the guy told me, too.
I made another attempt and it gave me seats in the D-block too. The seat next to mine had a letter "Z" on it and the other had "Laz" written. Odd.

Hey, L, just thought I'd mention, in case you didn't know, that Rufus Wainwright is slated to play a gig at the Botanique in Brussels on May 9th, or so it says on his website. I seem to remember that you like Wainwright's stuff. Is that the same place DC are playing?

Lilypodule speaks the truth------->NEW SOLO TOUR DATES ADDED PLUS THE 'SUPPORTING STING ONES'
L's date of birth methinks.

I'm in Athens, GA right now, soon to be stroking the walls of the 40 Watt Club whilst seeing Calexico in concert. (Don't get too jealous Jen) Long story. I missed the one in Atlanta so came here instead.

Just to keep it a TDC type post: I ordered Absent Friends and have not received it yet of course.

There are three supposedly amazing record shops in town with import stuff coming out the wazoo...and yet...and yet....not ONE has any TDC. WRONG. WRONG. WRONG. Oh. And I ran into the Calexico guys while browsing through the racks at Wuxtry. I just pretended I had no clue who they were. Confused

Wainwright's at (one of) the Botanique venues.
Neil's will be playing at the Cirque Royal (completely other venue) but in the series of a Botanique festival. (the Botanique venues are really small, under 500 whereas the CRoyal is over 1000 easily i think & is more like a theatre then with balconies etc). Exclamation

Coo. Got my double cd version of AF this morning. Didn't have time to listen to AFTBY yet. The 2nd cd's called "Absent Friends Companion" (awwww)
It's cool to have "All Things" on a cd format.
