could anyone who's heard both the b-sides say which one they think is best?
can't afford to buy both!
it's a bit tacky isn't it? sticking different songs on different CDs. has anyone bought both and felt deceived as someone once sang!
I guess everyone does it these days but I'm not convinced it's such an effective marketing trick. if the single had two extra (new) songs on it, I'd have bought it straightaway but as it is, I'm umming and ahhing (well, in truth, I'm only really umming but might consider doing some ahhing later on).
thanks.

I don't feel deceived. I would if they were charging more, but a fiver for both isn't excessive in my book.

However... I'd go for the one with the video, as you're getting more for your money. And I'm enjoying 'Girl Least Likely' more than 'Idaho' at the moment. That could all change though!

good point Mr Nude. £4.00 for both CDs is pretty good vfm, as they say.
I think it's just the clutter that's putting me off. my CD racks are already over-full and I've only got a tiny little flat!
thanks for the advice on 'Girl Least Likely'.

Just buy both, throw one of the cases away and squeeze the 2 CDs into one! You know you want to!

I wouldn't say Idaho is pants, but I do prefer Girl Least Likely. Plus you get the alternative version of Come Home Billy Bird, and the video.
So I'd go for CD 2.

Must say, I do hate the vinyl version. Not because of the B-side (I haven't got it yet so can't comment) but because it only exists to fleece us out of more money. The only people who will buy it are us big fans, it will have virtually no impact on the charts, because you can't get the damn thing anywhere unless you order it! I wonder how many copies have actually been made? Whoever decided the chart rules should be changed so that 4-track and then 2 3-track CDs don't count to record sales, I don't like em, to put it niceley.

So what does count towards chart position in Billy Bird's case? Everything?

V impressed with the b-sides, very good although Idaho is a slow burner as Phil has already demonstrated.

Demo of CHBB is how I imagined it would sound on the album before I heard the AF version.

I'm kinda glad Neil changed it after all.

Very refreshing to hear the full glory of the CD after months of crappy MP3s. Cannot wait for next Monday.

Girl Least Likely used to be called Alison Green, btw, I remember seeing the name on a setlist from when Neil toured the US, was on the sheet as "Alison G"

8 euro for 2 songs is a bit steep - I could buy London Calling by the Clash in the same HMV and still have most of the bus fare home. Belle & Sebastian are after having some success with recent singles without resorting to this multiple formats lark, so how about it folks?

I'll still buy the bastards, I suppose.

Welcome ronando2!

hmm, well, I think they are limited to the number of bsides/songs they can fit on a CD, and thats why there are so many. If it means that we get to hear more Neil songs, then Im not all that fussed. 5 songs for £6 aint all that bad.

Could one of you lucky people with both versions (or even one, really) post the catalogue number/ASIN for the single(s)? I'd like to get the one with the demo & video but I'll have to order it to be sent to the US and Amazon UK doesn't say which is which. Thanks!

The catalogue number for the version with the video is CDRS 6630 (the one without the video is CDR 6630).

However, Amazon's overcharging for the thing, at £3.99. On the HMV website it's £2.99.

EDIT: Phil's pipped me to the post!

Amazon's choices are:

ASIN: B0001FUHU2
Catalogue Number: CDR6630

or

ASIN: B0001FUHUM
Catalogue Number: CDRS6630

...if either of those look at all familiar. If not, thanks anyway for checking! I'll get a friend to grab an extra copy and mail it to me if I can't figure it out. Smile

Ah... I posted too soon! Thanks for your help, guys - I'll see if I can convince HMV to send it overseas. I've been DC-deprived for too long!

Still not convinced by All Things. Girl Least Likely has now completely won me over, and I love it. Clicked this afternoon.
I like 7" vinyl, and I still buy the odd singles I do actually buy on that format if I can. Virgin normally have a fairly good stock of 7" vinyl, although their smaller stores don't stock vinyl. Most fairly decent independent stores can get it/stock it too. Got the ace Graham Coxon 7" 'Freakin' Out' the other week and was mightly chuffed.

Darned place didn't have a copy of the 7" single, said they couldn't order it either. Really want to listen to All Things now

Girl Least Likely is brilliant though, and Idaho has grown on me.
