On http://www.labels.tm.fr/fr/artiste.asp?artiste=DI025 you can watch the video of CHBB (just click on "cliquer ici pour voir le clip de Come Home Billy Bird").
I don't know if many of you have seen it or not ... it was the first time for me, and I find it very good and funny too Laughing
And we learn that on the French limited edition of Absent Friends, there are 4 new tracks, and Yann TIERSEN will play on one of them : "Anthem For Bored Youth"

Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked
I think it's easy to say that's the best DC video ever! (Not much contest, though).

Merci!

Good old French website comes in handy again!

It seems very professional and much better than those Regeneration videos.

Cor.. It's a bit 'Bobby from Dallas'.. It was all a dream! Nice socks too.

Bit of continuity issues there what with Neil wearing his watch, and then that one on the table.. In fact - that's the watch Neil ALWAYS wears (the one he's got on)

That's fantastic. Thanks again Berenice! Woo.

How come no-one at the official site can keep up with this!?

I mean, someone has to give some sort of clearance for that, why is it not hitting this site first?

This hasn't been the first time and I can safely say it won't be the last.

People have to look elsewhere for latest TDC stuff (ie the above video and info) and I have to say, it's not on!!!

What's the craic, like!?

(if no-one understands that last sentence see http://speaknorniron.8m.net ! shamless plug)

Ste! You're just the sort of chap that could make this video downloadable, as opposed to streamable.. are you not? Please say yes.

Neil looks rather fab in taht video.
I cant wait to see it higher res/better frame rater.
Reminds me of another thing i saw before, some french people did it, it had pigs in the video. That makes little sense, i'll see if i can find it instead of descirbing it.

There was some story on slashdot in the past couple of days saying how there's some good alternatives to Realplayer and Quicktime about, i'll find me later.

A most entertaining video.

Is it just me, or does the song itself lack... clarity? In the way it's recorded, I mean. It sounds very muffled...

Umm..hate to be the only one..but it's not to my taste really. It's certainly not as bad as some of the previous ones, but the straining obscurity and rather dodgy cgi put me off a tad. The final few moments with Neil were great though Smile

Marvellous to see Neil looking so...sexy...the video reminded me of Run Lola Run & Yellow Submarine.

But surely this was a Stick Figure Ninja production?

I liked the style of it, but I thought the literal interpretation of the words was a bit cheesy and crap really (sorry).

I mean, Neil sings "he drives so slowly and he talks so much"
Do we really need a visual of a taxi driver using the gift of mime in an over-the-top stylee ?!

Well I love it. Which is why it's a shame it's not getting a Perfect Lovesong-style DVD release so we could watch it in all its glory on a great big telly. Those 'enhanced CDs' just aren't the same!

The Taxi Driver looks like he's loosely based on Neil... and it's kind of like the ones in an Arnold Schwarzenegger film in the way that it moves - but I can't think which one. Total Recall maybe. No that's not it.. Actually, it might be. The one where it's an automated taxi driver. Actually, it might not be Arnold Schwarzenegger at all. It's kind of smiley, and wears a hat, and moves up and down, like the one in the video.

Yes.

It may be naughty, but I think the low quality of the audio isnt gonna impact sales in anyway.

edit: whoops, loosk like the one i was watching was a crap version, wasnt as high quality as that one, thanks anyway tom.

That's one of the bits that reminds me of Yellow Submarine - if you've ever seen the animation for Eleanor Rigby they employ this very technique known in the trade, so I am lead to understand, as 'This very technique'

I think it is Neil with a fake 'tache. As for the technique that's used, I think it looks like what they've done is get a series of picture of neil(or whoever taxi drive is) with mouth closed and open, and morphed between them to give hte illusion of actual movement, it's a technique that's used throughout the video, like when you see his feet moving when he's lying in bed/sitting on plane.
Well, that's how I think they've done it.

Yes! and Ooooh! Get you with your insider trade terms.

>Low or high quality?

I got it from Toms cheeky little link up there! Thankyou!

This is a great great video. I like it an awful lot.. I don't go with the reflecting the words thing being cheesy.. it needs to be like that to tie in with the whole dream sequence thing, and there's other cool stuff going on at the same time. The Neil bit at the end is ace. Except for his watch.

I think the Taxi Driver is CGI Neil.
