I'm sticking by my prediction of twelve for Billy Bird. Whatever happened to that thread where we all listed our guesses?

i think its obvious the album will do better than the single simply because divine comedy fans are album buyers and not (neccesarily) single buyers. more disposable income you see. also dc fans appreciate neils music in a more longitudinal way, thats why whilst neil hasn't done great in the charts since national express he still sells records and is signed to a big(ish) label - us the faithful followers stick by him
i think chbb will reach 18 and drop out quick and AF will reach 12 and stay a little longer

Or are just complete collectionists etc, like me. I think the single will do quite well, actually. Top 20 definitely. Dunno how long it'll stay there though. Prob not long, but I reckon it'll get past 15. Who knows - maybe it'll be his first number 1!!! *cough*

I don't buy singles. Not even for an Irish pixie. I'm not paying £4 for 2 or maybe 3 tracks!

Whatever Billy Bird/Absent Friends stuff I see in the shops, I'll buy. I hope Billy charts higher than No. 27, though. The single should be £2 Rachel! It might even have one of those 'Don't pay more than £2' stickers on it.

Hmm. Whenever I've seen singles lately they've been about £4. I also resent those things where someone brings out three versions of their single -well, the single is the same, but there are different tracks. People want to collect them so end up spending a fortune.

its not a fortune, nope nope, but mere pocket change, even for cheapo me! well, it is if it's a great artist/band, if it be a mediocre band then it is extortionate. tdc are great though, so all is good. doubt the singles will be more than two pounds each, at least in the first week of release.

It shouldn't be more than a couple of quid in the first week it comes out. They go up after a while to like £4.99 or sumat stupid. Buy Neil's things!!! They be good.

The new two-track single things are never more than two quid. That's my understanding of it anyway. A pound for each song! Bargain! I'll buy ten copies!

The only worry for me is whether I'll be able to easily lay my hands on the singles anywhere in town. WHSmith has stopped selling singles, Virgin is apparently next in line to drop them, which would only leave *spits* Woolworths. Urgh.

virgin won't ever drop singles, that's mad talk. unless it's one of them tarded v-shops, but they're tarded so don't count.

It is a tarded V-Shop. Bollocks. If Billy Bird isn't there I might shout 'TARDS' at the top of my voice, and run off.

those v-shops seem very weird. not many cds other than mainstream stuff, and more phones and gubbins than cds anyway. i think. i dunno, very strange, i stay away from them. but doesn't look like you have many choices, hmmm.

Could we employ you to run into any business premises that offend our TDC sensibilities and shout 'TARDS!' at the staff?

I can't either, especially as it mixes already-released CDs with forthcoming stuff.

The single will creep into the Top20 at 19 and the album will just miss the Top10 at 11!

I will warn my gambling record is not good!

Look at Kraftwerk up there in the top 10!
Man, American radio sucks by comparison. Nothing here comes anywhere close to Billy Bird.
Sorry y'all have to put up with Courtney Hole and the Counting Crows, though.
You can have them if you want.

Well they actually only managed 33 in the charts! But it could hang around the Top40 for another couple of weeks. It's got a fantastic rhythm to it, Aerodynamik.

Popbitch reckon Billy will be the highest new entry outside the Top 20. It should go in higher than Travis and Missy Elliott. They normally base predictions on midweek chart positions, so are usually pretty accurate. No *All New* TOTP appearance, then......

Okay sober now and spotted my typo.

Never mind. I do love If unconditionally as it goes but I'm learning to live with it.
