I did hear it all of a suprise like on Mark and Lard.

I did like it - a little at first and then a great deal towards the end.

Cheered me up too as I'm in a right grey old norksome mood at the moment.

Does nobody else here work, for Christ's sake? Shocked

Do either of these stations' websites let you listen to the shows again? I've never even heard Billy Bird at all - I have no idea what it sounds like, and I'm gagging for it.

Umm..Ummmm. What do I do? I clicked, then went to the Tuesday Mark and what-it's-name thingy. Then what?

Those stars and stripes DO get in the way sometimes whilst attempting to navigate around these parts. Unfamiliar territory. Confused

Radio 1 doesnt allow you to play back Mark N Lard shows. you can only hear them live, only the the "trendy, hip, down wit da kids" evening shows are kept for listening afterwards.

When's Jonathan Ross next on the radio? He's bound to play it!

And Claire, can you answer the question of why singles get played so long before they're released nowadays? I mean, surely 8 weeks beforehand is a bit far, isn't interest (and therefore the biggest sales chance) bound to peak after about 3 or 4?

It's so that we are all so ** bored that the latest pile of rancid cat-s**t from Will Young seems like a blessed relief...

Nice to see that "Billy Bird" does not even make it onto Radio 1's C playlist...

Do they still have the playlist system? For **'s sake, how long must this ridiculous device of record execs giving Radio 1 officials backhanders go on for? It's make no sense at all.

The playlist is only updated on thursdays, if it did get playlisted, i wouldnt expect it to get on there for jsut under another month. But saying that, it wont get on teh playlist anyway.

When you (in general) mention a single receiving airplay earlier than expected, are you referring to light/heavy rotation, sporadic, or maybe just featured airplay on a program such as the one that happened today? Surely it would seem that if a single went into heavy rotation too early, by the time the CD hit the streets it would have lost a bit of momentum unless it is a highly exceptional song.. I'm talking off-the-charts potential. (or has major $$$ and label-hype backing)

Yeah, I was wondering why it starts so early. Sometimes I've heard songs I quite fancy, then found out they aren't out for ages. Usually I've forgotten about them by the time they do come out! Either that or they've been played so much I want to hit them with a shoe.

Tried in vein to get internet link to Radio One at work then got home just after Lauren had played it on XFM which I can pick up via Sky Digital so I'm really annoyed. She then reckons if it gets enough votes it will be played at the seven at 7pm, it wasn't......doomed.

Showering this morning, door goes, wife tentatively opens door and it's my neighbour with a tape of the new single !!!! Car journey played it over and over and over again and I love it and I love my neighbour also !!

Reminds me more of Casanova than Promenade but it's just nothing like the last stuff which pleases me. For the first time this month I'm smiling at work........thanks Neil and yes Lauren sounds fantastic and I can't wait for the month of March !

Radio 1's playlisting is actually quite good and works in tandem with Radio 2's.

It's actually the envy of the radio world as it is so broad and the rotation is actually quite big - you usually only hear the same song every 6 or 7 hours - compared to 2 to 3 hours on comercial radio.

I always think for every 3 songs you hear on Radio 1, there's one you like, one you don't mind and one you hate.

That's not that bad really.

hmmmm, i find there's less and less i like on radio 1 now. well, not that i've listened any time in the last year, as it's always poo. mostly better than commercial radio though, other than 'alternative' stations.
don't listen to radio 2 either, but it seems like it'd be better. i think mark and lard should go to that station, and play more of the stuff they'd like. but dunno if their humour would suit those older listeners wotsits?

Personally I find the ratio much less favourable, I much prefer Virgin, but the reception here is rubbish! You can actually get a better signal driving through the Dartford tunnel (and I mean on AM!) than you can in Preston.

Am considering getting a DAB radio, but I need them to get cheaper first.

As for commercial radio being in envy about Radio 1's playlist - what the hell stops them playing a bigger range? And to anyone working for commercial radio - STOP PLAYING BEYONCE'S CRAZY RIGHT NOW! It's been heard! It's old! It's been played to death!

Radio 2's pretty great actually. Most of the DJs seem knowledgeable (and many of them seem to love Divine Comedy), they play music they genuinely seem to like, and there's a fantastic variety ranging from pop to classical. It's the way forward!

I very rarely listen to Radio One any more ( Mark and Lard excepted, who seem to do their own thing anyhow with regard to choice of music) which I find quite sad, having been a listener since I was about eleven years old. I like very little of the playlist- too much R & B and rap for my liking. Radio 2 has come on by leaps and bounds in recent years and plays a far wider selection of music. If they would just get rid of Terry Wogan and Steve Wright and get Simon Mayo and Mark Goodier back on a regular day slot, my happiness would be complete!

My boss insists on having Virgin at work. Not on having virgins at work (thought I'd get in there before anyone else did). But they play at least one Cure song a day (always one of Lovecats, Close To Me, or Friday I'm In Love; very occasionally Lullaby or Just Like Heaven...): hooray!

Snow Patrol I like. They've been gigging around for feckin' years though...

I think Steve Wright is a slimey poo, but Tel is much more witty, interesting and intelligent than Mayo and Goodier, who are bland nobodies. I like to wake up to Wogan - or Sarah on a Thursday. And I can't sleep without Janice beside me. And Jonathan is great for my hangover on a Saturday.
I've just realised my life is quite regimented..
Radio 2 plays the best selection of music and cares about the music and has documentaries and stuff. Me reckons.

I like Virgin. Can't pick it up in York it seems, sadly. The station has got a bit poppier over the years though - used to have more rock. Now they have Robbie Williams :/
