I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but since the charts are what they are today I think Neil will be lucky to crack the top forty. I hope I'm proven wrong though. Put me down for 40 then.

How do you know that Billy Bird is going to be the first single?

I'd have said that with the charts the way they are today, Neil will be more likely to crack the Top 40. Unless I'm just talking out of my arse, I'm not sure.

How about another Guess The Weight challenge?

When do you think the official word will be announced regarding album details?

I'm gonna say an overly optimistic 24.

Because it won't get played on the myriad of commercial radio stations that make people with no taste in music go out and buy records, nor will it make radio 1 because The Divine Comedy's musical career is more than 3 months old. Oh, and Neil Hannon has some talent.

We're looking at Radio 2 and Virgin airplay if we're lucky.

Didn't realise Nigel Godrich was involved in this project?

Sorry I'm mightily bored. Must stop thinking about new album.

Yeah, but it says mixed by G*****h, not produced. It was produced, as we know, by the man Hannon himself.

No need for alarm. I hope.

Oh dear ** God no.

From the news page wrote:
Who’s producing this album, is Nigel Godrich involved?

I don’t think I’m going to bother with a producer as such this time. It’s going to be much more a case of arrangements being the main thing and a recording of those arrangements being the finished product.

I think this is fab news.. and that's coming from someone who dislikes Radiohead greatly... The guy is hugely respected in the industry, and definitely knows his stuff. Plus Regeneration was fab.. and you all know it Smile

Hope this doesn't turn out to be a big naughty lie.

I hearda rumour that they have got the violins and cellos to play their instruments with recorders instead of their bows.

also, he asked the brass to stick records up their arse while they were playing. sadly, I wasnt asked to play tuba.

On top of that, Rob and all the percussionists had to use recorders instead of drumsticks and when the kettle boiled it was sampled and reversed until you couldn't hear any nice noises anymore.

Finally, Godrich sampled his uncle having a great, big s**t - including all the cries of, "Oh Goooood! Jeeessuuuuuss! My ring!", sampled it and looped it over the saddest track on the record...

Won't make it to the top40 for sure. (& that's not related to the quality -or not- of the song).

Uncertain we are whether DC will get into the top 40.

Radiohead are hailed as the most progrssive band in rock, and Coldplay are held up as the finest band in the world...

Does anyone feel that this planet is seriously ** up...?

You're one out - my money's on 13. But if EMI promote it properly it might make top ten.

I predict a nice number 23......

I'll buy it as will a lot of other people on this board, but chances are the only music channel that will play it is The Amp. Which isn't bad, but just isn't enough for it to go v.far.

it will go in between 5 and 30 depending on how good it is and how much airplay it gets.
I haven't heard it yet or seen the airplay figures so will have to wait before giving my expert judgement! I'm normally accurate to about give or take 5 places...
