gin soaked boy would indeed be a great song for them to play live, me'd be muchos happy with that!

and get me to a monastery, and u.s.e., and i am, and little acts of kindness, and motorway to damascus, and love is lighter than air, and this side of paradise, and vapour trail, and such great b-sides. more b-sides played live i say! less of lucy and your daddy's car, enough of them!
ooooh, and europop! europopopopop please! that'd be perfect, ta. thanks a lot neil.

>gin soaked boy would indeed be a great song for them to play live

Didn't he mention some sort of problem with overlapping guitars and fancy technical stuff - hence not being able to perform it live? He could do a stripped down acoustic version.. Although there is only probably him (and maybe Johnny Marr) that could manage those insane 'official' chords. D G and A all the way for me Smile

He's bad enough with lyrics as it is, can you imagine him trying to remember them for Gin Soaked Boy?

yup, it'd be a lot of fun, along with him trying the lyrics of i am and little acts of kindness. it would be like watching that gareth gates trying to talk- immensely funny and pleasing, but with good music! Smile

The Ace of Spades...

but it'd have to be done in a very small venue, with nothing but an acoustic guitar to work.

Theme from Black Beauty. Full and proper version. Not that I'm ever going to get it.

Otherwise:
Europop
Gin Soaked Boy
Going Downhill Fast
If I Were You (I'd Be Through With Me)
I'm All You Need
With Whom To Dance

Apart from 'Europop', they're some of the ones that I've never heard live and would like to hear performed at a gig. 'Europop' is good for getting the crowd going. I wish he'd play it more often at live shows. I've only heard it live once.

From the new songs:
Absolute Power
Come Home Billy Bird
Smiler

And I'd like to vote for "Here Comes The Flood." Not that I'm a big fan of it, just that I think it could be done fantastically live in a Sweden-2001 kind of way.

Through A Long & Sleepless Night - that would be good.

And If I Were You (I'd Be Through With Me)

Geronimo, When The Lights Go Out..., If..., Johnny Mathis' Feet.

And I know it's hardly groundbreaking but TWF and Lucy should be compulsory, I can't hear them live too many times!

Very Happy

I've only heard 'Lucy' once at a gig, way back in 2001. More of that, I reckon, less Tonight We Fly and Your Daddy's bloody Car.

I pretty much agree with all what Geordie said.

I'd absolutely love to hear Johnny Mathis' feet.

totally+utterly agree
Kopf tut weh no more 'daddy's car'!
always 'tonight we fly' as glorious finale of the...numerous encores!
(it's the TDC trademark song ,not to mention the most popular of them all,
taken from the best of their albums(as voted in the polls)

furthermore;

TALASN
woman of the world
death of a supernaturalist
commuter love
certainty of chance
i'm all u need
if
summerhouse
note to self

b-sides;

this side of paradise
maryland electric rainstorm

He opened the show with a rousing instrumental version of this the last two times I saw him.

Neil must always play Tonight We Fly! He must..

I think he played Austin and Dallas when he opened for Ben Folds in 2002.

Ah, yes, I remember hearing something about an Austin gig. Not Dallas, though - or if he did, it was before I knew about TDC? Not sure. That link is from 2003, though. But June of this year was all wedding crap. I couldn't've gotten away to Austin to save my life.

I think he should play all the songs he ever wrote or recorded, minus the ones I don't like, at the gig(s) that I attend. I think that's fair.

Howdy podnah.

Caught the Austin show! That was my one and only DC show, so far....and an unusual one, at that. I posted a review of the show in the LIVE bulletin board, in case you're interested.

PS: a Texas-sized welcome back to Alphi:
I think I'd like to hear Hannon tackle "Town Without Pity".
