We are proud to announce that 'The Lyrics Of Neil Hannon' is now available to pre-order from lyricbook.com

This must-have book collects all of Neil's lyrics to produce a fine compendium of The Divine Comedy frontman's wit, whimsy, wordplay and wisdom.

Published on the 30th April, 'The Lyrics Of Neil Hannon' is only available through the lyricbook website!

"I am delighted that The Lyric Book Company have taken it upon themselves to publish 'The Lyrics Of Neil Hannon'. My thanks to them for all their hard work in getting it together.
My personal title preference was 'The Bizarre Ramblings of a Romantic Idiot' but it wasn't up to me.

When we began the compilation process we had to decide what and what not to include.
We thought long and hard about it, then included everything. Not because it's all fantastic (far from it) but because it's meant to be more of a reference book than a rip roaring page turner.

Please forgive some of the youthful naivety. Not to mention the aged stupidity.
So there you are, the stuff in my brain, chopped up and rhymed. Enjoy."

'The Lyrics Of Neil Hannon' is available to pre-order now and priced at £10 plus P&P.

This is great news !

I’m going to orders some copies now (well as soon as the shipping outside UK will be available)

When you say “This must-have book collects all of Neil's lyrics”, does this count only the album songs? or the B-sides as well ? or even unreleased songs ?! (Smiler, A Rose For The Lady, Christmas at the Hannon’s)

Well, now it’s time to hope that Neil will do some reading in various cities like Jarvis Cocker has done the last few months… I saw him in Paris and it was fun.

Hi a short site,

The book will include all released Divine Comedy songs including B-Sides, but not songs for other artists or Swallows And Amazons.

Yeah, that makes sense...

So: Liberation (12) + Promenade (12) + Casanova (10) + B-sides (2) + ASAAL (6) + FIN (10) + B-sides (7) + ASH (2) + Regeneration (11) + B-sides (8) + Absent (10) +B-sides (5) + Victory (9) + B-sides(6) + Bang (12) + On the barge (1) = 123

I don't count the Duckworth Lewis Method as the song were co-written with Thomas Walsh.

If we count the 2 Bang iTunes bonus + Guantanamo and even Fanfare (7) and B-sides (4), it makes a total of 137

The book is 166pp. If I suppose a song fits on one page, that makes 29 spare pages. Even if there is an intro by Neil, and a few songs on a couple of pages, looks like there's still a chance that it features some unconsidered material. Very Happy

Anyone else having problems registering with Lyricbook?

They won't accept any password I try, and will not even accept an email asking why. Sad

I'll be ordering one as well.
Just wondering: as far as i know, Neil isn't at the end of his career, or is he ?
What with upcoming songs lyrics ? Does this mean we'll have to reorder a re-pressing with updates ?

Confused

Oh and BTW, thanks for letting us hear about Lyric Books, i see they also release a Ian McCulloch lyrics book ! Ordered too !

I'm not really sure, but I suspect this is a new editor which was looking for titles to issue. They may have asked many artists including Ian McCulloch and Neil Hannon, and they must have said "Why not?!"

Holly,

Will copies of the book be on sale at the forthcoming concert in Brussels / Lyon ?

It'd be a nice idea if fans could pick up a copy after show and Neil would be there for signing....

More B-sides names featured on the cover, including songs from the Timewatch/Europop EPs...

Just received my book by surprise after completely forgetting all about it. It's a beautiful little thing! The ribbon is a jolly nice touch.

Though I could have sworn that Lady of A Certain Age ends with
"And you'd say no, it couldn't be" instead of "And he'd say no, you couldn't be"

Have to say, it's wonderful. Not sure why, but I was expecting something cheap in the style of a shiny text book, or something. Couldn't have been more wrong - it's lovely! Feels really good quality, nice simple design, just the right size. It's essentially a little book of poetry, which can put a slightly different slant on the words if you want it to, or you can just sing along in your head as you read. Great keepsake.

It is a lovely thing. I got one for myself and one for my son. There are 3 songs in there that I have never heard (All Things, Mr Right and Anthem for Bored Youth) Have now ordered two 7" Singles and a CD Single that I will never play! Why did I do that???

They were all Absent Friends b-sides which I was not keen on so I must have lost interest at that point.
