I can't remember seeing any topic dedicated to the new Pugwash album...

Recorded in Exchequer Studio, Dublin, and mixed at Abbey Road Studios The Olympus Sound will be released on August 31st.

The album will feature 12 tracks with many guests including Neil Hannon on the half of the album. Here are the details:

  • Answers On A Postcard
  • There You Are (scored by Dave Gregory)
  • To The Warmth Of You
  • Fall Down
  • Heal Me
  • Dear Belinda (dedicated to actress Belinda Stewart-Wilson and featuring Ben Folds on piano)
  • 15 Kilocycle Tone
  • I Don’t Like It But I Gotta Do It
  • Here We Go ‘round Again (co-written by Andy Partridge)
  • Such Beauty Thrown Away
  • See You Mine
  • Four Days

A new blog featuring comments by Thomas Walsh, insight stories, photos and preview clips has also been launched: http://pugwash.over-blog.com/

A first single Answers on a Postcard as been released last week as a digital single by EMI Ireland. A limited 7" will also be release.
Although I couldn't find any details about the availability of this release....

A video of an acoustic version of the single is available here:
http://boxroommusic.com/2011/07/02/pugwash-answers-on-a-postcard/

Pugwash will play a laucnh gig on August 11th, at Whelans, Dublin. They also have played a show in Galway last Wednesday and in Dublin Grafton Street's Mark & Spencer yesterday (no idea where this show as announced).

I hope we will be able to know in time if Neil Hannon makes any guest appearance with the band...

Friday saw the release in Ireland of the new Pugwash album, The Olympus Sound. The album, produced by 1969 Records, is distributed by EMI as a digipack CD or digital download. The album will also be available for download across Europe on Monday.

For this album, Thomas Walsh has been surrounded by many musicians including Tosh Flood & Joe Fitzgerald (from Saville), Andy Partridge & Dave Gregory (from XTC), Neil Hannon and Ben Folds. The tracklisting is as follow:

  1. Answers On A Postcard
  2. There You Are
  3. To The Warmth Of You
  4. Fall Down
  5. Be My Friend Awhile
  6. Dear Belinda
  7. 15 Kilocycle Tone
  8. I Don't Like It But I Gotta Do It
  9. Here We Go 'Round Again
  10. Such Beauty Thrown Away
  11. See You Mine
  12. Four Days

The CD – as well as a limited 7” of Answers On A Postcard – can be ordered from the 1969 Records webstore. However the digital distributor ‘number 1’ enforce his position by selling the album with 2 exclusives outakes ‘You Can Build a House On Love’ and ‘August Born’.

The album has been released last week through Lojinx.

It's strange that we haven't heard a word from the DCHQ about this Neil Hannon appearance. But, after all, the Pug-boys are going well with the promotion it seems.
