'ey up!

I've been rifling through my CD collection after having a laptop die on my and thus losing all the tracks

I can't find my RE: Regeneration that I got with the Independent a while ago and this track was on it and I'd like the track back. I suspect my collection has been tampered with in the five years I've not been at home!

I'm not really as arsed about the others - can anybody tell me where I could possibly find this musical morsel for download?

http://www.last.fm/music/The+Divine+Comedy/_/Born+With+a+Broken+Heart - has not helped, it has a buy tag but not one of the links work. For now, all I can do is play that 30 second clip!

Cheers!

Any ideas - I don't really want to buy another copy off eBay.

Hi drawntowardsthewater,

Sorry to hear that you lost your copy.

"Born With A Broken Heart" was available on the "RE:Regeneration" cd that came free with The Independent On Sunday newspaper in 2001.

I will check to see if it was included on any of the non-UK issues of "Regeneration" but I think it is only available on that cd (DCIND01)

Best wishes
HollyDC

It wasn't available on any other release either in the UK or elsewhere. For a while it could be legally downloaded from the Labels.tm.fr website but that's all changed now. Bah.

You could probably pick one up for 50p from a secondhand site - try aggregators like MusicStack and Netsoundsmusic.

Re:Regeneration crops up from time to time in charity shops. If I find one on my Womblings I'll pick one up.

Hell of a track. One of my all time faves of any artist.

Why not? There's one on there now with a buy-it-now price of 99p. It's hardly going to break the bank Razz

not sure why sharing this song electronically is so much worse than buying a copy of the unavailable cd from ebay. Neither will harm anybody more than the other. hope drawntowardsthewater has found a copy by now.

I guess it's just the principle of the thing. It's much simpler to have a rule about no downloads of official recordings than to have some convoluted rule along the lines of no-downloads-unless-the-official-recording-is-now-unavailable.

Also you could argue that the circulation of downloads of unavailable tracks reduces the marketability of future re-releases.

Nope, not found it - I'm going to go home at Christmas and will turn the house upside down. Hopefully it will turn up! Still, three months is a long time to wait Sad

I may end up using the eBay option after all. Ponder.

I'll sell you mine for 650. 10 goes to Neil, 15 to the record company and 625 goes to PhilTunes. Sound familiar?

Alternatively you can listen to it for free on Phillify, my music streaming service. No money goes to the artist, or the record company. I just sold the record company shares in thin air.

Holly, a geunine question, what stops you from putting this song up for sale on the digital download sites? Is there an issue with retrospectively making previous b-sides available?

Hi Phil,

"Born With A Broken Heart" is an EMI track so the decision to realease it as a download would be down to EMI.

However, we are working on making the B-Sides available that we have.

Hope that answers your question,

HollyDC
