What!?

I was just thinking about him yesterday (for the first time in a long while).

Sad

Just read the Rutopia thread. My stomach just dropped out of my arse.

RIP Sad

I didn't know him at all, but I know that a lot of people on here did. Still very sad news.

Gosh, this is sudden. I never knew unry that well, but we did have one or two spirited conversations on the boards back in the Regeneration days. I can remember being in awe of his Wildean eloquence and intelligence.

RIP.

This is sad news - as with rusty and MissD, I didn't know unremarkable at all but it's always sad when someone off the board dies. Sympathies to all his friends Sad

Goodness, that is unexpected. Indulgence, his old TDC fansite, was amazing and certainly something that helped many people like me to explore much further.

Also, he made me improve my batter recipe after calling my original version shit.

Very sad.

Yup me too. He helped me with my first website as well. Sad

I remember how he corrected my spelling of Fawlty. I never spelled it wrong again! Smile

I was supposed to meet up with him (and some others) at the Ben Folds / Neil gig in Dublin through irelandsdiva, but circumstance conspired against it. That and me being too chicken to approach a bunch of people that I only know through a couple of photos online.

Ack, better stop now starting to get blubby at work (again!)

We are sad to hear from fellow fans that Unremarkable has passed away.

Lawrence was a big contributor to the forums and Neil, myself and everyone here would like to pass on our deepest sympathy to his family and loved ones.

I never knew him but it's always terrible when something like this happens. I like to offer my condolences to his family and freinds, at what must be an unimaginably hard time.

Have just been reading the tributes on rutopia. Unry seemed like such a lovely man. Really wish I had paid more attention to his posts and my heart really does go out to people on here that knew him. Thinking of you all.

Sad.
Sad.
Very sad.

I won't - or can't seem to say much right now. Instead, an introspective photograph of Lawrence. I believe it's a self-portrait but I'm not certain.

Farewell...

That is such a shame, I can't believe it, I remeber seeing his photo on some TDC BBers site a long time ago, I had a bit of a crush if I remember rightly.

I didn't know him personally and chatted with him only a few times on the board. I believe he sent me my first ever PM here asking me to tell something about myself while telling nothing about himself. Although we didn't really know each other, still he wanted to be friends with me on Facebook. I was going to ask him about it sometime, but never got around to do it. And now it's too late. RIP.

** Hell

Though he did not believe in heaven and things, I'm quite convinced he's having animated conversations with my mum right now!

Lawrence was a very good friend to me and I owe him so much. It's thanks to him that I started posting here about seven years ago. I only met him in person once, but I treasure those memories. He was supposed to be coming to visit me today. I miss his warmth and positivity. My world is a colder, darker place.

It still doesn't really seem real. Jen and I had only recently been talking about visiting him soon, and it seems impossible that there's no longer any chance of seeing his grinning, floppy haired, face sailing through the aisles of HMV three hours later than he was meant to arrive. He was someone who's opinion I always found interesting, sometimes frustrating or annoying (oh God, could he be annoying!), but always stimulating. Off the internet I always found him enthusiastic, warm and hugely friendly. I remember him once managing to twist my arm into coming out with him and some of his friends in London when I was in the depths of a depression - although he didn't know it, that evening really cheered me up and his blushing response to my chiding over his consumption of Bacardi Breezers over Real Ale still makes me smile.

He will be sorely missed - I'd like to think he's sitting in heaven right now, with quite a surprised look on his face berating God for existing.

I've frantically been trying to sign on here for the last couple of days, but it's been a while since I've visited, and I had to sort through a myriad of passwords before I came up with the right one this morning.

First of all, to those who have come over to Rutopia to pay your respects, thank you. It meant a great deal to us, and it's lovely to be posting here because without unremarkable, auts, and magnus, many of us would never have know the music of The Divine Comedy.

I remembered this morning a quote that Lawrence loved:

"Every day, in every way, I'm getting better and better": Émile Coué

He knew his strengths and he knew his weaknesses, and I believe he gave each day his best shot.

Bye, bye, dear friend.

Or berating him from the other place, what with heaven supposedly for believers?

I admired unremarkable's love for the science, and practical thought, although otherwise I had mixed feelings about him. It's a shock that he's gone though. Horrible strange thing, life and death.
