Our Mutual Friend

Becoming More Like Alfie

Everybody Knows

The Happy Goth

The Frog Princess

A Woman Of The World

Sunrise

Change over music

Eye Of The Needle

Idaho

Bernice Bobs Her Hair*

A Drinking Song

Tonight We Fly

The Dogs And The Horses

* This version has a big “cut” in the middle due to mean security man asking me to move from nice spot. It resulted in a disconnection of the microphone for a moment… Fortunately, another version of another gig of the same tour will be posted soon thanks to cams who had the good idea to include it on another CD!

More stories tomorrow when/if I can wake up!

Zeyneb is right, this gig is the one you skipped.

No Alphi, the songs have been recorded in the right order and I don't think I shuffled them since (nor did cams).

These two songs were played the day before, and I'm afraid my recording of the Sept. 26th gig is a total miss.

I'll try to explain how the story goes (see, I've only slept 3 hours or so):

On the 26th I was at the front row, right in front of the mean security guy (who by the way is on almost every picture I have, so I can't forget his face). The front row recording has a lot of unwanted sounds (especially me being too loud while singing on Ben's songs) and it is incomplete because I couldn't use a new MD after Ben left the stage (security man looking at me in the eyes). Therefore, it includes very few (and badly recorded) DC songs. "Charmed Life" and "The Wreck Of The Beautiful" are not on it.

After this first experience, I decided I'd pay extra attention to the recording the next day. This is why I had to isolate myself in a corner, far from front row, but not too close to the bar and not in the middle of the crowd. I sat on the floor on the side of the venue and got an ok sound from there (until mean security guy told me to get up which triggered the Bernice incident).
"The nice French lady in the front row" was not me unfortunately (it was a very nice French lady indeed) because I spent the whole gig isolated!
The only problem with the second recording is that the setlist was very different from the first night...
I didn't sing, I didn't clap... I had to quietly enjoy myself, and it is very hard for me!

Fortunately enough, a good bunch of us met afterwards but that's another (great) story.

Got to go now! Late!

No sorry I don't, the sound is really poor anyway, you don't miss much of anything on this recording I can tell you.

Anyway, I will soon upload the Encore bit with Neil and Ben sharing the stage, and at a later stage (soon though) I'll do the same with the Ben Folds set.

( I like this image :-) )

I notice it says Part One, JC, Unre. Does this mean it won't be up for long, to make way for Part Two? It's just it'll take me a lawng time to get it all, 'cause I'm on dial-up and am without a great deal of time to download in - generally, only when I'm redrafting work onto the computer.

Part two: The Encore.

Encore

Songs Of Love

Brick

Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head

And here’s a better version of “Bernice” added by cams to complete and perfect the recording:
Live at Bristol Academy, 29 Sept. 2002

Bernice Bobs Her Hair

I probably did something wrong, I'll check it out as soon as possible but I don't have much time right now.

And I posted Bernice for those who might have missed it the first time, isn't that sweet of me?!

Woo - I much much much prefer that version of Idaho. Great!

(downloaded it first, seeing as Phillum mentioned it. Only thing done so far. been working on my music as an excuse to download. Better go revise now)

Shame about all the talking, but hey, it's still lovely - thanks again, all three of you!

Given that JC wouldn't say it herself, I would like to point out that she was ill with flu when recording this gig...

* gets out violin to play *

...and was feverishly fretting about the fact that she felt a "responsibility" to get a good recording for people. And I would like to point out that she very selflessly more or less put her own enjoyment of the gigs on the backburner both nights, to worry about getting into the right position for the recording. On the first night, this meant trying to avoid the gaze of the security guards from her position at the front barrier, and on the second night, that meant leaving the bunch of us up at the front, to wander around the hall, all on her ownio ("No, no! You stay where you are!") trying to find the position that would give the best sound.

So, I greatly appreciate the effort she put in. And Cams does, indeed, rock (and has the most comprehensive knowledge of Crowded House/Neil Finn that I've ever encountered)! And thanks for the webspace, unremarkable.

And thanks, again, JC, for the fact that I don't have to download the above songs! Mwahahahahaha and to my internet connection!

i'd like to say that, even though i haven't downloaded any of these, jc is indeed lovely, and supplied me with many exciting rarities on minidisc, by post, at no charge, when i first joined the board. though i was able to send some stuff back, she did not in any expect to be reimbursed for her time, effort or materials.

what a truly lovely thing to do.
