I'm sorry, y'all. That was me. I got over excited. I think mainly due to too much sugar from my orange squash and the prospect of moving soon.

What with the lyrics concerning his unhappiness re: missing his child and missus, it never was a humorous number, dear.
Twas always a sad 'un.

I knew that, I would have spelt it properly but I didn't want to get sued in case he decided to register on here.

*mumbles something that sounds not unlike "Yes, that should stick"*

Here's a thought, does Phill Jupitus have shares in Parlophone and Setanta? Maybe he wants us to get all the records due to a lack of funds? Buzzcocks can't pay that much.. Yeah, that's it! What a fiend!!

Are you talking about Idaho (cos it's doesn't strike me as a particularly funny song, but maybe I haven't heard the version with the funny sound effects and squeaky-bonk-whiz noises) or about CHBB itself?

Having played both CD singles I think "girl least likely" is quite nice and is the best song on those two formats (and that's including CHBB which I think it s a bit lame, really). I wonder if it'll scrape into the Top 30 or not...

ho hum.

and agree about BB being a bit lame - was never that keen to be honest

I'm still not too taken with Idaho but I listened to Girl Least Likely again before work this morning and it completely won me over. It's a beauty.

So for that reason, anyone considering which CD to buy (if they're being cheap and only buying one!) should get that one. The CHBB video deserves to be in everyone's collection too.

The one with the video, of course! Particularly with the Billy Bird demo which is a nice alternate take to have.

Apart from that, the B-Sides are really not up to much. Idaho has some amusing lyrical twists but it's fairly uninspiring otherwise. Girl Least Likely just passed me by. Au suivant!

has no-one mentioned the fantastic demo of CHBB with piano in a ben folds stylee? there's one chord change that freaks me out a bit though...

'idaho' is very slowly-paced, and the lyric about utah is a shoe-in, but i've grown to like it, in the same way i had to grow to like 'timewatching'. it moves me and it's clearly heartfelt.

girl least likely is a great song but has enough reverb on it to kill several dogs... i had dreams of trying to play it in class to motivate students, but it needs to be more crisp and upbeat for that...

Billy Bird is great great great great!... Top guitar malarkeys on 'Girl Least Likely' too. Very impressed.

Idaho however has turned out to be a horrible tortured mess.. It just doesn't seem to know which direction it's going in, and I kept waiting for it to get started. The whole stupid Timpani/Tambourine shenanigans would be fine as an intro - but alll the bastard way through? It's awful.

I agree with Flip. But then it's hard not to.

I've never met the bloke but he sounds most agreeable.

Well done Flip.

'Girl Least Likely' just gets better and better with every listen.

If The Divine Comedy release a b-sides album it would be a worthy addition.

Unlike Idaho.

Would be a nice idea to release something like that (not that it would ever happen, just that it would be nice if it did.) As someone currently trying to complete my TDC collection, it seriously bugs me that some titles were only released on cassette single (the most loathsome form of single ever designed.) Luckily I think they've died a death now, but it'd be nice to have a compilation that included the ones that did come out. (I know I could just download MP3s, but that isn't the point...)

And I like Idaho, as a song anyway. Can't really comment on the arrangement cos I haven't heard it in any of it's previous incarnations.

Big cocky arses! I love Idaho. I'm finding it far superior to Girl Least Likely - after the first few listens anyhows.

The beginning bit reminds me of The Wicker Man. I love it Very Happy

Where's the best place to buy these as far as chart figures are concerned? Are there any outlets that are known to directly contribute to sales and chart position? I usually buy from Virgin Confused

You could try Woolies, thats one of the biggies in terms of chart returns apparently. Failing that Virgin should be fine

I like Idaho very much, possibly because it's similar to English Rose by Weller. I've not heard Girl Least Likely yet so can't comment fully.

Girl Least Likely is still my fave B-side, after three days of listening. It's just glorious.

And I'm still loving Billy Bird. The 7" arrived this morning. I can't play it, but it looks nice.

I'm really enjoying Idaho. Girl Least Likely is quite fun. My record player is broken, so I haven't heard All Things yet. I've bought it though, and that's the important thing! My mum liked the demo Billy Bird better than the final version.

I've made the mistake of being late for everything lately, and driving through the narrow Torquay streets far too fast.

This is mainly due to listening to 'Come Home Billy Bird' very loudly as I fly. Convinces me I'm on a mission to get to my destination as if my son's happiness depends on it.

Haven't killed anyone yet.

Sorry Mr Nude.

Funny thing is I haven't got any children.

Funny if not surprising.

Has anyone noticed the part of Girl Least Likely, near the end, when he's wondering what his old friends are doing now, has the tune and even the feel of the old Divine Comedy song 'Jerusalem'. Reminiscing about the early days with a bit of irony, a nice touch!
