It's true, turn to Phil Jupitus column in the Radio Times this week and you'll find him raving about Absent Friends. Not quite Rolling Stone, but it's something I suppose ...

Some very random 'Absent Friends' reviews from publications that I'm unfamiliar with.
I briefly skimmed the press forum, but still have no idea if any of these have been posted here before.

ROCK CITY

MUSIC OMH

WARWICK BOAR

DRIP FED

JUST SOME MESSAGE BOARD PEOPLE BLABBING ABOUT ABSENT FRIENDS

I haven't read our uni's review of it yet but I know the guy who's doing the review and he's a big Divine Comedy fan so could be good. As I recall from talking to him, his only major complaint about the album is the copy protection.

My uni is way too dim to have heard of Neil, let alone string together any form of review.

So many university papers are an utter crock of shite. The NME-esque posturing can be quite painful. The one in Leeds never gets above wanting to look like the local newspaper.[/quote]

Ah, Leeds Student, always found it a bit hysterical myself, all very 'earnest'!

Very Happy

I should've offered to review it. I wrote an article once, urging people to buy perfect Lovesong, but evidently that didn't work!

Radio Times is great. Especially at the start of Christmas. You can sit down with a pen and get all excited about "Diamonds Are Forever" and "The Great Escape" or whatever.
