I'm pretty bemused that nothing has been made of this amazing milestone!!

Wasn't there supposed to be remastered versions of all the old albums released about eight years ago, or something? Did I just imagine that?

You are correct; there were plans to remaster the entire back catalogue around eight years ago or so. But that never materialized.
