Pull Out All The Stops at The Southbank Centre
Runs from 18th March - 7th June 2014.

*Date confirmed - Saturday 22nd March, 2014*

New works by Sir John Tavener, Simon Holt, Martin Creed and Neil Hannon!

From the Southbank Centre:

"Tickets go on sale to Members from 10am on Friday 22nd November.

The Divine Comedy frontman reconnects with the sound of the organ, a backdrop to his childhood as the son of a Church of Ireland bishop. After organ music by Tallis and Vaughan Williams, he discusses his memories and influences with James Runcie, Southbank Centre’s Head of Literature and Talks. The second half is the world premiere of Hannon’s commission, a series of vivid musical scenes evoking the constriction, the mystery and magic, the boredom, and the hard-won freedoms of a childhood Sunday.

Works include:

Carillon de Westminster, No.6 from Pièces de fantaisie, Suite No.3, Op.54

Rhosymedre (hymn tune)

Rhosymedre, No.2 from 3 Preludes on Welsh hymn tunes for organ

Neil Hannon in conversation with Southbank Head of Literature, James Runcie

Third mode melody

Fantasia on a theme by Thomas Tallis

Interval

New work for organ (Neil Hannon)

Performers:

The strings of the BBC Concert Orchestra

Tom Bell Organ"

Would like to go, but not sure we can make it. Will it be recorded (and released) - either live or in the studio?

Hope you can get to see this Sponge Monkey!

Just had this through:

Quote:
"The performance will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3, conducted by Rebecca Miller and features organist Tom Bell, Strings of the BBC Concert Orchestra and a Voicelab ensemble. "

Sorry luvs, only just seen this post. Wow! You're performing - that's fantastic!

Looking forward to hearing it (can't make it to the show, unfortunately, as I have my own 'Premiere' to attend). Smile

Good lord, madam - what exactly are you expecting? The truth, unfortunately, is bound to disappoint:

I've written a song for our local choir and they're performing it in a competition.
